I don't think you fill find any discernable difference between W-296 and H-110 in Magnum handgun cartridges. As for Unique, it was the first powder I used for handgun reloading about 25 years ago and while it still is a good choice, it does burn a little on the dirty side. I have used many others such as Accurate No. 5, Accurate No. 2, Winchester 231, HP-38, Hodgdon HS-6, Clays, Universal Clays and Tite Group. My current favorite for loading 9mm, .38 Special and ..357 light to mid range loads would be Universal Clays which seems close to Unique in burning rate but cleaner. For heavy magnum loads, I still have a couple of pounds of W-296. If I felt like experimenting further, I would take a look at Ramshot True Blue.

I think that guy is full of it. There is a problem with Unique-it clumps up due to the size and density of the granulkes, so must be weighed-it DOES NOT meter evenly!
For handguns, I do use Unique, Bullseye, WW 296, Hodgdon H110, Alliant 2400, Red Dot, Blue Dot, HS 6, HS 7, and IMR or Hodgdon 4227. HS 6 and HS 7 meter accurately and are suitable for both reduced and heavy loads. I still prefer 2400 in my full-power .357 loads. Plus it meterswell and is not near as sensititve to crip as are WW296 or H110.

For mid velocity loads in .357 mag I use titegroup and ramshot trueblue.
for magnum loads I use lilgun. The true blue is alot cleaner burning than tite group and it meters extremely well.

I mostly use hodgdon powder in my rifles now just to lower my inventory, H4895,H335,VARGET,H4198,and lots of Bench Mark. This takes care of my .223,.308, and 45-70. I still use both Imr and Xmr4350 in my .270 and 30-06, for .44 mag. I use H110 , for .40 S&W I've gone to bullseye,it works great and goes a long way.
