Default 130 GR load for .308w

Whats a good ACCURATE load for 130 gr Sierras in .308 as I want to try it for High Power Standing. I am trying to get the recoil down but maintain accuracy.

If there is a better bullet weight / powder combination I'd also like to hear. I use an older Tikka 595 Continental bolt gun with a 1:11 twist and 24" length.

Many Thanks

Is the 130 gr. .308 Sierra the bullet designed for single shot pistols? If so, it may not stand up to full throttle loads out of the .308 Winchester. You might check with Sierra Ballistics on this before getting too far along.

The sierra manual DOES have 130gr loads for the .308w , however there are 10 min/max loads to choose from.

If anyone has an accurate load, it would help the boy from downunder.

The Sierra manual has a photo of a fantastic .310 " group using 110gr projectiles..........boy you guys in the USA can shoot !!

Many thanks and I hope someone can help

Kindest Regards

How about the 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip? Quite a bit better ballistic coefficient.

Bans are on Auto and Semi -Auto rifles.

EXTREME restrictive licensing on hand guns. It takes 3 months just to apply with madatory Police/ Interpol/FBI/CIA crosschecks. THEN you MUST be a club member and perform a min of 4 COMPETITION shoots each year with EACH hangun you have as well as 2 Character references that you are of good character.

Our bolt rifles are going that way too.

Back to the topic ....any suggestions ?

Try 48.0 of WW 748 and work up to a maximum of around 51. Or try 46 gr. of RL 12 and work up to a maximum of around 48. The actual ballistic coefficient of the 125 gr. Ballistic Tip is as high as some 150 gr. spitzers. This should be a great bullet for the application you suggest.

As usual, the above loads were safe in my gun but might blow your gun up. If that happens, I am sorry - but that's it. No liability is expressed or implied. Please consult a loading manual and confirm these loads are safe. Thanks. Roskoe
