Default .243Win. loads

What's your favorite .243 Winchester load for Varmints. 75-80 grain range?

Also, what's a good bullet to use for Coyote in the 75-80 grain range in the same caliber? I was looking at the Hornady V-Max Bullet .243 Caliber 75 Grain. Yeah or ney on this bullet.

Thanks.

Good deal.

Wondering what might be an accurate powder to use. Trial and error I guess.

I have had great luck using the 70 gr. Nosler Ballistic tip with a healthy charge of IMR 4350 powder. I would suspect the new 70 gr. Sierra Blitzking is good as well.

Thanks Roskoe.

Was this a load for target shooting and or Varmit shooting?

I havent used the smaller bullets yet due to me spending my time working up a deer hunting recipie, but I have used 100 grain hornady interbond with 40 grains of 4350 for a MV of 2900 to 2950. Pretty consistant. The other I have been using is BLC-2, 38 grains with the same bullet. BLC-2 is a faster powder better suited to smaller grain bullets, so you might mess with it. I havent clocked the BLC-2 yet. EJ

It was for varmint hunting, but the accuracy was great - probably the best grouping load I came up with for this rifle (Remington 700 VLS). Also, the ballistic coefficient on these Nosler BT and Sierra Blitzking bullets is higher than many heavier bullets with conventional lead tip or hollow points.

My rifle seems to like the Sierra 85 gr HPBT Gameking pushed by 4350. I use it for everything from deer to groundhogs and crows. I've loaded this for 20+ years with great success.

Isn't it amazing what a great all around bullet this is? I have used it for varmints and light big game - even used it on an elk once when I was taking a mid-daybreak to do some coyotehunting. Did the job - but kinda marginal. Another similar bullet folks swear by is the 87 gr. Hornady Spire Point.
