For an impressive impact on crows, try the 55 gr. Nosler Ballistic tip. You wouldn't think a 6MM bullet this light would group very well out of 1:10 twist - but it shoots great. I load it in a 6MM-284 at 4378 fps. Turns a crow into a shower of feathers about the size of an oven.

This ones easy IMHO ....55gr Combined Tech BT with some 4320, 4064 or 4895chronies at 3800'/sec and just simply vaporizes things. Good Luck, and regards, Rick.

I have a .22-250 for 55 gr. shooting. I'm looking at 70-80 gr. shooting for the .243 with hopefully some sort of accuracy like my .22-250.

I have had some Awesome accuracy with the Nosler 55gr BT's in my .243. Was amazed that the rise from these 55gr's was 6" over my 100gr load. I expected a little but that was a BUNCH in my book.

If you are going to load the 55 gr. Ballistic Tip/CT in the .243, try H 414. It was recommended to me by a Nosler tech and has turned in some impressive groups.

I tried the H414 using a 85 sie BTHP and the 87 gr Hornady, this was the best group I got with it.So the H414 worked for these bullets also.

Hello herman. Did you shoot this group in a vacuum? I have never in my life seen a 1 hole 3 shot 300 yard group with anything. What rifle and barrel combination did this? What did it do at 100 and 200 yards? How much bullet drop? Great shooting. I do not use the H414 in large part because I hunt P Dogs in 100 degree heat and have heard this powder can cause detonation in hot ambient conditions. Don't know this to be true, however, if anyone has any experience using this powder in hot conditions, I'd like to know. Regards, Rick.

Rick my 243 is an older model rem classic I think I bought it in 1985.Have 2 classics one in 243 and 7/08,have shot 1in groups with the 7/08 @300yds,both are factory, the 7/08 I did put a rem camo stock on,and both triggers lightened.
The group @100 was a little larger but all 3 were touching, haven't tried it at 200 yds yet.
When I shot that group a guy at the range was spotting for me,he said he couldn't see but one hole so I figured I had missed the target with the other 2 shots. When we walked down to get our targets it looked like there were 2 holes in one, when I took the target down and looked at the back you could see three distintive bullet marks making a very small V.
Haven't shot much of the H414 yet so don't know about the heat, that load was 45 grs and didn't see any pressure signs but it was only in the 70 or 80 range
Below is a 3-shot group shot back in May useing H4831 and a 100 gr core-loc @ 300 yds,the bottom is the same load with the 85 gr sierra that wasn't to bad @300 either.

You might want to try 42.5 gr of IMR 4350 with a sierra 85 gr hollow point boat tail. My gun loves this combo, consistantly shots sub .5 in. groups @ 100 yards. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

The Sierra 85 gr. HPBT is one of those little "sleeper" bullets that can kill everything from prairie dogs to big game. I have a load of 50 gr. of H414 that I have used in several 6MM-284's with this bullet, and gotten 3/8" groups.
