Hi Everyone

I have read all 36 pages here and the information was excellet. We are heading for Northern Caribou Adventures on Nov 14-17. I know what most of you think about NCA, I guess I should have found this site before we booked, but we booked this in 2002 just so we could get the first week which we thought was the best, but after reading this I'm not so sure of that. Anyway, just wanted to thank all of you for the info. I will let everyone know how we do up there.

Well, Only 20 more sleeps before we head off on another wild excursion up in the great white north. Yes, February Caribou hunting at Mirage for the 7 th straight year. If you don't like the cold, don't even think about this. It usually is extremely cold but what an adventure. Can't wait, I always feel like a school kid when this time of year comes around.

We hunted Dec 5,6,7 this year and skunked. 4 of us only saw 3 caribou in zone 22B and those were right at LaForge Dam in a no hunting zone.

saw thousands on our way in and out in 22A and 22!

We hunted Nov. 30 - Dec. 3. There were quite a few animals on the LA 1 Road but there were also hunters from all the camps concentrated along about 25 miles of road between the dam and the Trans Road. My first time up there (2000) I hunted at the same time and the animals were just getting into the area. When we were getting there guys were leaving skunked. We had to go past the LA 1 Dam another 50 miles or so to the end of the road to find animals but when they came in they really came in.

I don't know if anyone heard the news but a helicopter went down at Mirage last week. Both the pilot and the guide we're killed instantly, but the 4 hunters came out without a scratch. I haven't heard anything on how it happened yet but I will be up there the week of Feb. 7 th and I'm sure I'll here about it. Very unfortunate, but anyone that's been up there this time of year, knows of the dangers of hunting in -40 and -50. Thought you might like to know. I'll update when I come back. Cheers!

My buddy left to-day and is taking thre days to get to Mirage - sleeping in Hull, then Matagami.

We've been following the migration on the Quebec gov't site and it looks like the 'bou will be on the Taïga h'way just about when he gets there.

I'll keep you guys posted.

There are a couple of ways to get around the DUI. If it shows up when they run your drivers license at customs you can pay a fee (go figure) or you can get a FBI background check which will also cost some money (imagine that). How old was he when he got the DUI? Have him run a check on his driving record to see if it shows up. If you have any questions call Canadian Customs and ask. They will tell you the scoop.
