I am booked for the 30 NOV hunt until I cannot go anymore, which I hope islong into my old age. At this rate of herd growth I see caribou for at least as many years that the fish cops have been tracking them. The drive is not bad and Iactually was able to sleep some on the way back - of course the guy ridingwas not too happy but we made it OK.

Anyone know who's truck is off the roadon its side ~ K100 JBR. Towing a trailer with a sled full of bou going home it looked like. We stopped on 29 NOV 07 going upto take some pics of a big black wolf in the road. We all got out to look at him runinto the woods (and a 10-100) and I saw the truck off the road on the other side.Looks likeit took the curve to fast and went right offand down the bank to rest on its side. Tongue was twistedas the trailor keptupright.WE saw many wolf tracks and it lookedlike they were fixin to have dinner on this hunters animals. Maybe 10-15 wolf tracks all over the area. Wewere a little concerned cause we saw a single boot on the ground near a shovel. Truck was gone on the way out on the 3rd DEC.Any news would be good to hear from this forum.

Nord i am looking foreward to this years hunt again as i do every year. As for the truck in the ditch sorry about their luck people have to remember to respect the JBR road and also along with the Transtagia road also the roads up there can be clear one strech and completely covered the next. They road people do their best to keep them safe for us to drive on but they can only do so much. They plow long streches at a time and it takes them a while i feel for those guys but what a beautiful job especially on the Transtagia road. I hope the heard migrates the same way this year first time i have hunted along La 2 forthem always hunted La 1 it was great though.

Ha s anyone gotten price lists from the Mirage yet for 2008? I recieved a letter fron Don Assaleins the other day we made the mistake of stying there our first year. Their price list is $1500 plus now you have to buy your tag on top of that it is not included in the price any longer. We are trying to get back into the mirage we took a year off and now we cannot get back in for the week we usually hunt. We need the week of Thanksgiving to accomodate every ones vacation. Anybody have any secrets on getting back in?????

tpquack, Unfortunately the secretis to keep your reservation. The Mirage can be a very difficult place to get your foot in the door, especially for the prime hunts.

I have read a few recent post from folks on this thread mentioning that they have spots available or are willing to skip a year. You may want to read back and contact them.

The cost for the 1st leg og Mirage's winter hunt is 1620$ USD ~ 10% morre than last year - taxes will be charged on second payment in October. Fuel is hitting the operations across the board - seeing Donats @ 1500$ is a sign of that - less and less margin for these guys inthe last few years and I hear some may be lookng to sell/get out of it.

Trick with Mirage is to keep calling - contactLaSarre maybe every week until mid-Feb to grab anything that opens. Mirages' policy is to verify all last seasons customers on the phone to give them a chance to book again - by 15 FEB they will be looking to fill the gaps and some repeat groups will get until early March with partial spots while they try to fill them. I suggest grabbing anyting in the 1st hunt and then trying to work your way back in, either this year or next.
