Anyone going to Mirage Dec 7, 8 ,9th? Looks like we should still be able to catch some of the herd by then. Driving thru the night to hunt the morning of the 7th. We plan to hunt the Ptramagin any idea's on how best to do it? A first for both of us. Thanks.

Use whatever you would use for pheasant, grouse or other small game. #6 shot is plenty. Some guys I know have use slingshots in the past if you can get them. The cree use rocks to get them. U can get pretty close to them. I wouldn't bring a BB or pellet pistol. It might get you into some problems at the border. Even Conservation may get nervous when they see a pistol because from a distance you cannot if some of them are real or not and of course in Canada you cannot hunt with or possess a real pistol or revolver other than at a shooting range or at home. I'm bringing a sling shot and my Stoeger o/u .410.

We arrive at Mirage late Thursday or early Friday. We'll be staying in the main lodge in the deluxe rooms. Those of you getting there Tuesday should have your tags filled by then and I expect a full report. It should be pretty good hunting for the next few weeks unless they take off like a rocket. That'skind of what happened last year. Hopefully they will spread out and move through gradually this year in a more normal migration pattern.

ORIGINAL: bucketman MN

Just on my way back from Kiskimaastakin. Six in our group. Shot twelve caribou in one day. At approximately 540km.
That is the same place (@ 540 KM on Trans-taiga)we went on Sunday, and sawinnumerable Caribou. We watched them passing for four hours before we left to go back to Kiskimaastakin.
Not sure but think I spoke with you there in the game room that night.
All in our group whohad not tagged out did tag out on Sunday. We came home with 36 caribou-some quite nice.
