Today the premiers are meeting with Martin and one of the topics of discussion will be the registration FIASCO....
Lets hope that he has more common sense than his predecessor and scraps it all together.....

ya hopefully martin has a little more on the ball than chretien. honestly i don' t think he could be any worse. Martin is stressing the idea of listening to the western provinces more to avoid western allienation i think this is a good idea which can only help the gun registry idea. Have to many people in the eastern provinces and some in the west that do not understand the sport of hunting and shooting. Hopefully the government will realize that this whole idea was a waste of time and money.

Perhaps when we see what he does with Allen Rock we will have a clue. Cabnet member or senat appointment. Speaking of Rock I heard he tryed Viagra. It only made his neck stiff and his head bigger.

Good one Duffy!!! I agree with tossing out the registry B.S. but would that ever stir up some $h!t after all the money that was WASTED into it so far. Personaly, I treated it as a joke from day one, never registered anything, never will. More and more, I think the west can do better on it' s own and am looking foward to seperation.

I don't think the registry is going away, it's NB payola, and the libs love buying those maritime votes. While people are Po'd on the price, they probably aren't all that adamant about the policy. I bet it's popular in Toronto, and a nice wedge issue to hand Aliance.
Rock is history. Martin has basicaly solved the political problem for a while by dumping the old crew. I figure we can count on the registery being nixed about the time Martin follows through on his promise to scrap the GST.
You order a nice harmless lockback knife from the US, they snatch it at the border, as a gravity centrifical force job, it goes in the ledger as a seized illegal weapon - another great victory for liberal weapons policy.

I've followed the gun legislation fiasco since it first began by the Conservative gov't. At this time, I don't believe Martin will budge but I've not heard him address the issue. I believe the last chance we will ever have of seeing the registration dumped is if the Conservative/Alliance party gets off the ground. Of course, the Alliance will have to still maintain its opposition to the bill but I hear rumors that there are some policies that will be reviewed in order for the two parties to merge. I hope the Alliances present stance on C-68 is one they won't back down on if this is the case.

If the new Conservative party of Canada backs down on C68 it will lose it's western grass roots support. I don't believe that they will start things off in that direction. The only problem is the money that's been spent and the fact that the majority of registrations have been made. Unfortunately that won't help those that haven't registered.
