To Otis and BramptonMike, sorry I missed you guys. I spoke with BossTom, he mentioned you guys were around.

I have to agree with Otis, I went to the show on Friday and returned today to keep a buddy company. The show is getting smaller and worse each year, with less hunting/firearm stuff there and more crap vendors (food, sock, and just crap). I do know some of the manufacturer reps and the show isn' t really a pleasure for them anymore either. The rules are so tight on what they can and can not show (like no handguns) and where there located, lack of attendance.

The show really needs better organization, example: locate all the firearm reps in a central location, group things of similar value together to create good competition for the viewer.

I hope Cabelas also finds a place near Toronto. I have had better experience with them compared to BassPro, though Basspro is a very reputable dealer. But I' ll take Basspro over Le Baron any day.

My useless 2 cents

I' am with 340, the show is not what it was. The bright spots where, watching the kids in the turkey/moose calling competion and a bud coming in 3rd in the amature retriever trial using his 2 yr. old german shorthair.

Yep...have to agree with you guys....I was very dissappointed as well...even thought it was advertised as been bigger this year, it sure didn' t seem any bigger too me.....I did get a couple of good deals which i' m happy about....was able to get a new pair to Irish Setter boots from the booth BT' s wife, Jeanette was working in & they paid the tax...great savings there & got a Softmap CD from the OFAH & they too paid the tax plus it was $10 cheaper for members!!!!!! Was able to watch BT in the turkey calling competition where he finished in 2nd place, congrats Adrian & had a great time watching the kids calling competition....hell some of them put me to shame!!!!!! Teh retriever trials were a blast to watch as well. Overall I had a great time for what was there, but as stated early, dissappointed with the show in general..[&o]...sorry I missed you guys as well...........Brampton Mike

Well,

I wasn' t there to shop for much of anything. I was looking for a deal on a Lansky sharpening system, a GPS case, a grunt of some kind, all small stuff.

I took my 5 yr old and that was worth the while. He fired the air rifles, the bows and tried the duck hunting video game. He thought it was great. We also got to see the retreivers.

I joined the OFAH, found out I got a doe in 37 and only purchased the grunt tube. Being on crutches, I really couldn' t get into the booths very well, but maybe next year I will and maybe then I have a more critical viewpoint.

Too bad I didn' t bump into any of you but we never did set up the meeting place.

Mike

Sorry about the bad communication Taxman, but after yesterday' s show I figured it was better to spend time at the range today than walking that show.

Glad to hear your kid had a good time, wish more parents would bring their children. Its the only way the sport will survive.

Guess we' ll have to plan better for the next one.

Your right there BM

They are handy to have! If you have a good Photo Quality printer, they will really give you good Topo maps for your area! Once I' ve printed off the ones that I like I Laminate them and slip them into a binder. I think some of the trails could be more up to date, but If you are lookin for the lay of the land they are Exceptional.
