Canada Caribou Hunt
#1

Was wondering if someone here could point me in the right direction... My dad and I are interested in going on a Caribou hunt next year. Not really looking to spend a fourtune with an outfitter. We would probably have a budget after travel of maybe 1,000 a person. We are thinking about just staying somewhere and doing a selfguided hunt. Or if someone there wants to assist that would be great.

Look at the Quebec winter caribou hunt thread in this section. There is a ton of useful information that could make the trip much betterand possibly saveyour life!
You may be in for a surprise as far as price goes. Even the do it yourself hunts will cost more than that.

There are no "do it yourself " Hunts in Canada for them . You have to go through an outfitter.

Did Mirage stop their winter hunts? I went up last year and we paid about $ 1,100 for the hunt per hunter. It included lodging, food, snowmobiles; but no guides. No antlers, but a fun trip.

I don't think you'll see any of the outfitters stop thier late season hunts. They will likely have to try to sweeten the package deals to draw clients. With the price of fuel still on the rise they will have to be careful about increasing the cost of the late season (no racks) hunts.
