Great pics! Where I hunted Moose, we wouldn't have had the luxury of bringing them out whole!! They would have been packed out. I plan to go moose hunting again & I'm hoping the third time's the charm. I will be looking you up when I'm ready! Right now I have this caribou hunt & a spring bear hunt planned. The spring bear hunt is one I traded work on a website for. I designed them a website and they offered me a free hunt!! It doesn't get any better then that.

Thanks for posting the pics.

That is a big boy!! What did he weigh in at? He looks close to 50" from this angle.

I don't know much about moose, but approx. how old is a bull that size? I assume the bull in the first picture is only a yearling or so? I don't know much about aging moose!

You've got a pretty good eye! It was 54 1/2. He weighed in at a little over 1200 lbs. before he was dressed. He's about a 5 or 6 year old bull. And yeah, the first one was 2 years old. The one on the ground was 49 inches. Season closes in 10 days for firearms. We're still hunting but they are heading for the high ground now. Not due to the weather, just due to the time of the year.

Whitetail seem to hit their prime at about 4 to 6 years of age. Is that true for Moose also? I assume you age them by their teeth as you do a whitetail?

Yes, they're aged by their teeth. He was just starting in his prime. A prime bull can breed from 4 years to 10 or more. Most of them don't live that long though due to predators and hunters.
