Skeet/Hia,

Until i moved up here I had never seen a true non-typ deer on the hoof so I really didn't think much of them. In the 1 1/2 years i've been up here I've seen several, not counting the ones that have been harvested. They are really starting to grow on me. I still love a big heavy typical but seeing some of the junk on these deer is really impressive. BTW, that's a huge fuggin' moose!!!:D

I am a junkhead as well, be it character points such as split brows, kickers or stickers, drops or knarl that comes from globs of mass..it's all good to me. I too like the typicals but given the choice "take out the trash".

Agree seems as far as whitetails go seeing the true nt's (beside the character stuff) is not the norm for me either. I think that ghostly/dreamimage is why I like them so much.

Yeah I believe that would be the biggest I have seen thus far with regards to a Sask. moose harvested.

Im just throwing out a question here, what would be your ultimate gun cabinet(I already posted mine.

Also a nice rack to me perfectly symmetrical, fairly wide and tall points. I don't really lke non typicals.

Dated a girl like that once.:D I have the split g2 gang goin around my place but have never seen a buck alive with droppers or extra main beams or anything. Only in my dreams lol. I think my big boy has some wierd junk on him but i never got that close of a look at him, hopefully get some pics of him in velvet this summer if he makes the winter. Geesh had KFC now fingers are slidin off the keys. As for the ultimate gun cabinet um well if money was not an option i would go with a .17hmr for lil stuff, .220swift for yotes, 7stw for deer, a benelli for honkers, and prolly a .300wsm. elk/moose.

I would have said the exact same thing two years ago mallard. However, now having seen a few (and shot one) it really has changed my view (not that any preference isright or wrong here).

Since this is an interesting topic, my question for all of you is:

If there were two maturedeer in a field, one a 165 frame typical 5x5, mass, good tines and decent spread. The other is a 175 non-typ, mass, decenttines and spread only a slightly smaller frame, and of course several non typ points. Let's say a 4inch drop, split brows and a 7inch split off the g3. Which would you shoot assuming both are offering the same shot opportunity?

Personnally, i'd pobably spent so much time humming and hawwing over which to shoot that they'd both take off.:DIt would be a tough choice but i'd probably shoot the non typ.

When it comes to guns. I'm not greedy. I am happy with my .280rem, .50cal Omegaand 25-06. I would add a 45-70 for bear medicine while fishing and possibly a 22-250 for yotes and other small critters. I would also pick up another bolt action rifle (not sure on calibre) with a left handed action. Oops forgot, i'd stick with the old Rem 12guage for quackers and add a 20guage O/U for ruffies.

:D, you had to find a loophole.

Here's some proof that not all the deer up here are freaks of nature. This is the buck my hunting partner got last year.

I don't know that it's been officialy scored but i think he said it grosses around 180 and nets just below 170. A picture doesn't reall capture the mass that deer had. the brows were both close to 12inches and g2s were 14 or 15 each.
