Early

Hey Jeff it snowed another 3 inched over night and will drop of too - 16 tonight and I'll be out this afternoon at 1. I'm on holidays, LOL. Will drop of to -20 tomorrow in the am so the deer should really be moving. Tuesday the temps are suposed to be above 0 for the low and the high. So you better gettem Monday :). I need to get a meat doe in the next 3 days before my hunter arrives on Saturday. I'll see you Saturday night for a beer Jeff in Leduc after our hunt, hopefully with the 1st bruiser for one of us. Travel safe and God Bless.

Skeeter, agreed. Not really sure why I felt I had to share other than to vent some of my own frustration. Hopefully, they'll have some money left in the budget to puthim onthe wall here in the office.

I am heading to Saskatchewan on Saturday and was wondering how the weather has affected deer movement so far? Are you guys seeing any increased rut activity? Are the bucks still in their home range or are they into their long range movements?

In the past I have hunted opening week, but this year we got a slot a little later. Seems the movementalways started to pick up by the time we were leaving in the past. The weather appears tohave been fairly cold recently, and next week it appears the lows will be in the low single digits with highs in the teens to low 20's.

The area we hunt is in eastern Saskatchewan near the Greenwater Lake Provinical Park near Melfort.

Any input or observations are GREATLY appreciated.

Hi deiter, I can't really help you too much on weather but I think you're doing well by hunting mid november instead of earlier. Here in northern Alberta the cold weather really has the deer moving so expect the same if you have cold for next week in sask. The area you are hunting is excellent so good luck and keep us posted on how you do.

Saskabush.

Ha!! well Skeeter I'd have to agree with you about weathermen. We were supposed to have a few flurries yesterday...I'm looking at about 2" right now and still going. Oh well I guess so much for the green and back to the white. Probably my last post for a bit as I'm off Sat. on a bird hunt then up to the great white north for a whittail. I'll definately take some pics and give you all the low down when I get back. Good luck to you all!!
