Congratulations tschaef ! I live in Bradford about 1/2 hour south of where you bagged that deer. Haven't had a chance to get out yet though.

Skeeter pretty much sumed it up...as for hunting up here it is paradise, we have anything you could possibly want within an hour or two from the big cities. I have never done a guided hunt myself but I'm sure you will have excellent facilities that your clothing shouldn't be an issue in camp. On the stand however, be prepared for anything!
By the way, if you guy's don't mind me asking, what does a guided hunt cost you guy's? and for how long? Thx!!

p.s. any other questions just keep asking, I'll try my best to answer them all. Here's my trophy wall so far.

Actually he had both ears torn up pretty good. I told the taxidermist not to fix them as it gave him character...they get it from fighting with other bucks and get their ears caught between antlers. The really cool thing about this buck was the taxidermist found the tip of another deers antler embedded in his skull just above his eyes under the skin, he said he's only seen that once before. He was a tough deer so that's why he's on my wall Good observation!!

JD, great story about ole "split ears". Best of luck adding to your "wall" this season.

Yeap them whitetail sure can be tough. Last 2 years I have taken bucks that were damaged as a result of the rut ritual. 2 years ago I shot a buck with a puncture wound to the stomach, badly bruised entire front end and yet he still came charging in to my rattling to give her another go! My last minute smokepole buck last fall was limping hard, basically 3 legged. Came to find out he had a broken left front shoulder, gouged left eyeand deeply bruised front end. Got love em, just liketimex "takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!!!".

Hi JD, those are a couple of nice deer. Thanks for the pics. As far as my hunt with Primitive, it's $4300.00 for six days. Also Jeff's the real deal from everyone I've spoken to! This will be my dream hunt!!!!!

JD, I truly enjoyed your response to my last boot question. It cracked me up! Yesterday I was able to load a few rounds and fire them down range and was pleased. Time is just passing so quickly and I have things around that need tending to but I can always take a break to do some shooting.

Thank you for posting the deer pics, yes by leaving that whitetail "as is" it does add characature and will remind you of that hunt for your lifetime I am sure.

As far as my hunt goes I bought 3 spots @ $4000.00 each plus GST.The hunt is 6 days and is on a 12,000 privateacres. With it all said and done the venison, if we all take a deer will be appx $170 US lb.

Not that I am counting but I leave in 24 days

Wow that's not cheap[:-]I really thank God I live up here and appreciate the beauty and abundance of animals near by. I really hope you guy's get the hunt of your dreams for that kind of money. I'm confident you will, as long as your outfitter is honest. I hopeyou will have some good stories and pictures. After all the Zaft buck came from the Edmonton bow zone and he's a pig!! Take lots of pictures and post them when you guy's get back! I love to look at any hunting pics.
Make sure you check the weather at environment Canada the day before you come up to give you an idea what to expect for the week.

If I can give you one tip it would be this. Depending on the stands/blinds you will be in, one sure way to keep your hands warm is get a hand warmer that wraps around your waist (like a fanny pack sort of) and put in a couple of those hot packs. After years of trying different glove combinations this works best for me, especially with the bow where big mitts are not really functional. You just need lite gloves and your hands will be toasty (as long as you have a bow holder). I would ask your guide if he can let you know exactly what your stands are like (heated or not) and if they have holders, hope this helps with your hunting experience. 2 years ago I hunted in -30C and last year it was +10C. You just never know what it will be like so get your clothing for all applications ready!!

Here's a few more to get your juices flowing!
