I was wondering if you guys in Alberta have much luck patterning bucks around all those crop fields during early archery season? If so, which crop gets themost attention?

Loyd McMan was a texas transplant to alberta years ago who got the Canadian (alberta) whitetail outfitting going back in the 70's. He was hooked up with Realtree and was a big archery fan. Now I believe he is with NA Whitetail in Georgia or there abouts. He no doubt has some alberta bow hunts on videosome where.

Yes they can be patterened if time permits.........but once the farmer harvests the crop all work is out the window..........but best crops to look for big deer are pea feilds Alfalfa oats and canola......and deer love clover!!
But if your coming up to bow hunt your going to be back in the woods a good ways (200 yards) or else your hunting the edge of the feild and then your looking at possible late arrivals of the bucks on the edge of thefeed

Are you sure you have the right guy in your Loyd Mcman comment. I never heard he was from Texas or that he had left Alberta.
On the other hand Russell Thornberry was a Texas transplant who got heavy into white-tail outfitting and made a video called "Monachs of Alberta" about deer hunting in Alberta. He got involved with "Buckmasters" and has moved down to Alabama, I think.
Loyd had a reputation of being a great outfitter in Albertaand then it got soiled by a number of run-ins with the law in Alberta and the States.

your right. I must be gettin old. Russel it was. I didn't know about the run ins with the law though, too bad. Seems like money, fame and hunting never really mixes in the end.
Seems like every celebrity hunter, outfitter or taxidermist gets busted in the end.
