Default Nikon Buckmasters Rifle Scope 4.5-14x40 Quality

Hello! I'm new to the forum, so I hope this is the right place for this post.

I'm considering purchasing a Nikon Buckmasters Rifle scope for a new Savage Model 12 204 Ruger. I'm usually a Leupold guy, but I thought I'd give Nikon a try. Does anyone have this particular Nikon scope and if so, do you like it? What about Nikon quality in general?

I have a couple of them. Look at the Riflescopes forum post below:

Thanks, Big Uncle. How long did it take Nikon to fix your scope and return it to you? Were you satisfied with the customer service?

I just went to the Nikon website and filled out the repair request. I will UPS it out next week, wait for the repair, and sell it for $100 (with full disclosure) to a new owner.

My other identical scope is in good shape, and some friends also have this model. It seems like a good scope for the price.

I read some bad reviews on them but I had no problems with mine. First I had it on my 204. Shot very well. Now I have it on a 300RUM. I only have about 75 rounds with it and still no problems.

If you buy the Nikon scope, make sure you keep the receipt and copy of warranty card. It looks like the warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Good info, guys. I appreciate it. I got it on sale from Midway, so we'll see how it goes. Being that it's going on a .204, recoil won't be a problem. We'll see if it holds up to the normal wear and tear of a hunt. I'll follow up in a month or so, once I've had a chance to put it to the test.
