Did I make a good purchase? Bushnell 4200 2.5-10x50 Illuminated
I just picked up a new scope for my Browning 7mm Rem Mag and ended up picking the Bushnell 4200 2.5-10x50mm scope with the illuminated dot reticle. I paid $429.99 for it. My other option that I was looking at for the same price was the Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x40mm. I could also get the newer Bushnell 6500 for $100 more but of course it wouldn't have the illuminated reticle. This is the first scope I've bought so just looking for suggestions in this price range. I previously only had a Tasco 2.5-10x44mm scope that came with the gun when I bought it. Thanks!

The 4200 is a great scope, often called the best bargain available. I've never owned an illuminated reticle, but have looked thru a couple. You have to be able to see the deer before it will do any good and I can see my German #4 on a deer when it is too dark to see the deer with my naked eye.

So what about recommendations for a base and 30mm rings for this scope? I have the Browning 7mm Rem Mag like I stated before and it's got a 2 piece mounting system now with I guess low or medium rings for the 44mm Tasco scope that was on it.
I was looking at one of these two combos but I don't know which would be best.

And does anyone have any info about the Elite 4200 30mm w/ 4A Illuminated Dot? Is the glass any different or better in it since it's newer and the only 4200 that I see in 30mm??

Yup, nice buy , my friend....
The best price I see it for thus far is 459 ..... and another at 549 ..... so 430 is right dandy....
Be proud , wise shopper , and bank the extra bucks for another gun.....

PS... I almost exclusively use Leupold bases and rings ( on about 9 rifles ), as they have never let me down.... but I know some folks prefer Warne.... I don't think you will go wrong with either.

I'll get another 25% off that price as well since I purchased it from a reputable seller on eBay and used the Live cashback promotion. But as far as price goes I was just wondering how good this scope choice was for price compared to other scopes in this price range.
I'm gonna go ahead and go with the Leupold mount and rings like you suggested. I like them the best and the mount that's on my gun now looks like the standard Leupold mount and rings so it should be no problem swapping.
