The only scope I'll purchase now will be a Zeiss,I have 2 a 3-9-50mm and 4.5-14-44mm,execelent quality optics
PaJack how do you like that 3-9x50 I am thinking along those lines for a new rifle I just picked up..strictly lowlight deer hunting

I know you directed you question towards Zeiss scopes but I have 2 Swarovski scopes. One is the 3-10 x 42mm and the other is 4-12 x 50mm. I tested them one evening while the sun was setting with both scopes set at 6x and couldn’t see much difference between the two when looking at deer at a distance in my field. Just a little observation I made between the two for what ever it’s worth...My 2¢...

In low light it's twice as good as the 40mm...

While the outside is multicoated too, any lens can fog on the outside in the right conditions. Its the inside of the scope that you really want protected! Any fog on the inside, means that there is moisture inside the scope!
