I just mounted a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm today on my son's new Blaser. If I were to compare a Zeiss Conquest to a Leupold, it would be a Vari X III, and I would take the Zeiss over the Leupold any day. I own both, and for the money, it is Zeiss all the way.

The conquests have fully multi coated optics Vis the VX-2's either multi or fully coated. Zeiss is renowned for having durable scopes and they hold true to magnification. Not knocking Leupold at all but if you compare it the VX-2 there not really a comparison. Not a bad choice man.

I just made the same decision recently. I checked out a Conquest & a VXIII side-by-side, & the Conquest was clearly better. Plus, it was $399 vs. $469 for the Leupold.
