Default Nikon Customer Service

I had a Nikon 2-7x scope that was about 12 years old or so, before they had they offered different models like the Monarch, Buckmaster, Pro Staff, etc. When I got the scope, there was only one model of Nikon scope available. On this year's bear hunt, we got rained on most of the time, during our week long hunt. After I got home, I discovered that the scope fogged internally.

On a friend's recommendation, I sent it back to Nikon for repair. I got their address off the Internet, and mailed the scope in for repair. It cost me $13 in shipping and isurance. In less than 2 weeks, I recieved a brand new Monarch 2.5-10x replacement.....free of charge.

Got to like that!

I have heard a few negative reports about Nikon's customer service, but testimonials like that dispute the stories. It would be hard to beat that for service.

They are lower priced then Bushnell 4200 and Leupolds VXIII and a bit less then a ZEiss conquest .Shop around you may be surprised

As far as optical quality in this price range

[ol][*]Conquest/Bushnell 4200[*]Nikon/Leupold VXIII[/ol]
One thing i like about Nikons is their adjustments. I have the easiest time sighting a rifle any rifle with those scopes.

I'm wondering why they replaced it with that scope instead of the Monarch 2-7x32 that they still manufacture. It seems that some people would need the in-kind replacement for a compact scope for similar applications. Replacing with a longer, bigger scope could create more delays in getting the right scope. I guess it's good for you in this deal because you got more scope than you had and seem to be happy about it. I like my Nikon scopes as well.

All of the Monarch 2-7's I see advertised are close-outs. According to Nikon's website (link), they no longer make a 2-7x in the Monarch series. The only 2-7x they currently list is a Pro-Staff, and it's a shotgun model. I would have been rather upset if they sent me one of these as a replacement.

The new 2.5-10x is a VERY different scope than the one I sent them, for sure, but I am glad that they decided to replace my scope with one in the same price bracket as my original. Having stuff break on you sucks, but I am glad Nikon tried their best to make it right. I have spent more on outdoor products, and gotten worse customer service.

I have no intention of putting this new scope on the rifle my old 2-7x came off. I will get a compact replacement for it.....maybe a close-out 2-7x Monarch.

In the meantime, my .338 Edge really likes the new 2.5-10x Monarch.
