Default Nikon Monarch 2-7X32

NIKON MONARCH 2-7X32 NIKOPLX MAT

$179 at Natchez...is that a good deal?

How much different is it looking through a 32 rather than a 40. Is the picture the same but with less light or is the picture smaller?

It's a closeout scope.... older model.... there are others out there to look at... If you are interested in the 2-7x32 or wheather you would accept a 3-9 or other is the question.

A 32 mm scope has a smaller vield of view than a 40 or 50 mm. It also will let in less light early and late than a 40 or a 50 mm... A general way to look at it is like this.

If it is 6:30 A.M. AND THE SUN IS JUST COMING UP AND YOU CAN SEE THE OUTLINE OF A BUCK IN THE DISTANCE.... If you could use a 32 , a 40 , or a 50 mm scope ... it would wind up like this.... You can see the buck ( get enough light ) on 5 X with the 32 mm ... then you would be able to go to 6X on the 40mm and you can go to 7X on the 50 and have the same light in your sight picture.... So a larger objective allows you to use a higher power early and late, or keep the power the same and just have a brighter sight picture....

If you are just interestedin a cheaper Nikon scope, that would do fine, but you can also check out places like www.durhamoutdoorsupply.com or www.theopticzone.com to compare. But that is a closeout scope. But it is still a Nikon Monarch. They are quality.

I'm not a big fan of 32mm objectives for the reasons MichaelT mentiones.

The last time I checked you could buy one of the older model Nikon Monarchs 3X9X40 at SWFA for about 200.00.

Try ebay. also. I've bought 5 scopes in the last 2 years on ebay and have been completely satisfied. The better scopes have transferrable warranties, so no worries.

The 2-7x32 Monarch is a great optic and I promise you, it's one of THE clearest optics you'd ever own. I'd put this optic up against scopes that I own that cost MUCH more. We use this model on a T/C Omega .50 with excellent results
