Default flip to side scope mount

can anyone tell who makes the scope mount that you can flip to the side to use iron sights?

I don't know of any scope mounts that flip to the side, I'm guessing the best you could do is get see-thru rings that mount the scope up off the receiver a little. a lot of people don't like them though because they can't get a goodcheekweld to the stock with them. (I amone of them)What kind of gun are you putting it on?

I haven't seen them in a long time, but after seeing how weak the system is,I would never mount one anyways.I would also never use see through mounts.Get a low powered scope ,and with a little practise, you will sbhooting just as quickly as with iron sights.

I know they exist because my cousin has one on his 300 savage. I asked him who made it but there was no name on it. He has had this rifle over fifteen years with this set up and has had no problems at all. The scope keeps its zero, and there is nothing weak to the mount.

The hinge itself has a fair amount of play in the mounts that I have seen. For close range, the zero stays "close enough" for most people, but for longer ranges,it is a factor worth considering.Since you speak of a 300 savage,I am guessing that the ranges are quite short for his hunting. As well, when climibing or traveling over rough terrain ,the scopes did flip off to the side on their own.

you seem very familiar with the mount, do you know who makes it?

I have seen a few swivel mounts many years ago, some I think were made by weaver. They weren't a big seller,so they may have been discontinued long ago.

I contacted weaver, and they said they don't make it.

As I posted,I haven't seen one in many years. The ones you are seeing now were probably made very long ago.

Didn't redfield make one in the 70's? I didn't like the deal anyway, but remember an uncle had one back in the day.
