need a scope for an 870 for deer. not really sure on what to get as far as size and brand. needs to be relatively inexpensive, but good quality. so give me your 2 cents on what you think it should be. thanks

I have an 870 with a rifled barrel and cantelever scope mount. Scope is a Nikon 2-7x 32mm Prostaff shotgun scope. Cost of scope was $129.00. I think you can get a better price at theopticzone.com. I'm very happy with the set up. Scope is very clear and accurate. For the price range, you can't beat the Prostaff.

Have you seen that for '07 Nikon offers a new Slug Hunter scope with a specially adabted BDC retricle? It looks VERY nice! It's a 3-9x40 extra long eye relief (5") model like their super popular Omega muzzleloader scope! I would certainly take a very serious look at one. Good luck and good shootin'
