Swarovski AV series scopes..

Looking to buy a new scope for a .270...
Just a 1.5 -6 x 42 variable or 6 x 42 fixed........
Its been quite a while since my last scope purchase...My currentrifles all carry Leupolds...
Although the Conquest line has raised my eyebrows..And I'm seriously thing about purchasing one...
However, on the counter they had a brochure on the Swaro A.V. Series
and and couple of their fixed power models...
These are almost twice as much as themodels I was looking at from either of ones offered by Ziess or Leupold, but are't out of my budget either...
They retail for about 1100 - 1300 Cnd depending on model..
No models are currently available for me to look through,so I'm just wondering are they worth looking into further..
I guess what I'm asking, are they that much better than the Coquest line to warrant double the price...

I own four 3x10x42 av scopes. In my opinion, the optics are slightly better than the conquest, but in a scope even lighter and more compact than comparable leupolds.

Only you can determine if they are worth "double the price". They are very good scopes that's for sure. If $ isn't a big decider, you may wish to check out the new Swaro Z 6 or the Leupold VX-7 line. I also really like the optical quality and clarity of Kahles CL scopes. The Zeiss Conquest's are good, and carry a huge following here. Just put the best glass on you can afford. I'm a huge fan of Leuppy's tho. The VXIII's have always been great for me. Some folks think they are way overpriced, but the Leupold customer is top notch (FWIW). To each his own.

I also have a couple of Swarovski. I knew I was getting another one after my first one. Are they worth it, to me they are. I haven’t had a chance to make any comparison between the Swarovski and the Zeiss Conquest at this time but maybe later this summer...

I have both 3-10 x 42 mm and 4-12 x 50 mm and to be honest, I really can’t see that much difference between the two in low light conditions. If I get another one for a hunting rifle, I’ll stay with the 42 instead of the 50. Not as bulky and mounts lower to the rifle...

I have several Conquests and one Swarovski AV, and for my eyes, it is toss up which is better. As far as cosmetics, the Swarov is hands down a "classier" looking scope.

As far as price, I bought my Swarov NIB off ebay for $650 shipped. There are some deals to be found, but you have to look for them.

I looked at the 4x12x50 as well,and I didn't see much difference.However I really don't need 12x for big game hunting,and the 3x10x42 can be mounted lower.
