What is the farthest you have ranged a deer at? What rangefinder were you using?
What is the farthest object you have ranged? What was it? What rangefinder did you use?
Seems like answering these questions will be a big help for those of us in the market for a rangefinder and don't want to be surprized by a product which says 1000 yards, but only ranges deer to 200 yards.

RE: Ranging
The farthest I have ranged a Deer is 723 yards, I use a Leica 1200 Range finder. I have however ranged cattle out to just over 900 yards. This is the first year that I have had this range finder but have not found it's limmits as of this posting. I will say that it is the most accurate and dependable range finder I have ever owned and works in all weather and even at dark if you can see it you can range it. They are a bit pricey but well worth the money.

I also have a Leica 900 and find when trying to range something at long distance you require a steady hand because it’s not that easy to have the small object in the target area... I was actually able to range geese flying over head and found that interesting in trying to guess the height they were flying at...

RE: Ranging
This my next toy, I think. I'm basically trying to find something to find something which will range animals to 700ish and things near animals to about 1200. It seems like everybody had a 1200 or 1500 yard rangefinder, but it is hard to find out what can actually be ranged with them and how far.
I tried a Bushnell old model yardage pro 1000 out at a store outside. I could get a semi at 700 ish. I could get a thick treeline at 450ish, but when I tried to measure anything at 1000, I just got a blank screen. That is where the idea for this post came from.
