Default Leica rangefinder

I see Cabela's has a Leica LRF 700 PM rangefinder on sale right now. This is the Pinmaster (golf model) so I understand it operates different than other Leica models. Does anyone have any experience with this model?

I had a peek at Cabela’s Web site and although I don’t have that particular model it doesn't really look any different then the 900 I have except for it’s range being 700 yards. Description is basically the same except the 900 has a rubber armor for protection...

My 2 brothers and I just chipped in and purchased one for my fathers Christmas gift...
Pondered over it for the last two wks than yesturday we decideded to give it a go...
Its lack of waterproofness may be an issue to some, but for those who are "FAIR WEATHER HUNTERS"
(like my dad) it won't matter.....
I think it is a great toy for the price....
He's is by all means not a long range shooter, and the was Leica makes their products I wouldn't be surprised if it ranged non reflective targets out to 500 -550 yrds...
But even if it only ranges out to 400 yrds, it will suit him fine...
Besides he GOLFS alot as well...It will never leave his side...
But if the restrictive range does concern you I think, Leica offers a $100 mail in rebate for either the 900 or 1200 not sure which one...

I think I'm going to give it a try. If I can get 400-500 yds out of it on a deer, I will be happy. If I don't like it, guess I will take it back and get the 900

You are getting the best if you get Leica. There are also some good looking models on ebay now.

I have both model the LRF 900 and LRF 700 PM. The PM has same optics and specs as 900, aside from measurable distance. I am very pleased with it. I had purchased mine from Cabelas, you can't beat it a Leica optic for $350, your cazy to pass up that deal...
