Both rule books (ASA & IBO) say that an archer that shoots pro or semi pro in any organization must shoot the same thing in the other (ASA or IBO). So if you shoot Semi in IBO when you go back to ASA Open C will not cut it.

Out of curiosity, if you are capable of competing with semi pro shooters in IBO why are you shooting Open C? It is a novice class.

well its like this, It s not that i feel I am good enough to shoot semi pro, others seem to think that is where I should be due to being Pro staffer for so many people. And really I will move up in asa not a problem, I just decided to move up this year in IBO, and I had already staye din open C out of the reason for me never winning any money in Open C, But asked if I will move up to open b or a, then yes.Not a problem there. This shooter for sure isnt a sandbagger if that is where you were gogin with that. When I looked at the over shooters in semi pro and the scores posted, that is why I decided to bump myslelf up in IBO.It's a matter of odds , and the number of shooters.
The first year I shoot IBO, on that first shoot and got back man i wa sbashed for shooting hunter class in IBO, folks saying , Look he is a pro Staff guy shooting in a beginners class.Man its sad when you are told what bow to shoot and where just because you got a few names on your shirt. You mean to tell me a guy cant be a staff s hooter and be in hunter. All that made me move up last year to mbo due to others pouting, To say a guy cant promote huntign products, becaus ehe is a staff shooter he ought to b e in a pro class, man check my scores out, dotn let those fancy shirts i wear worry you, those pro staff spots i got came from hard work not posting the best scores, it aint always about winning, its about being a great person inside. But yes I am moving up in IBO and ASA.

AR34, be careful.
Its none of my business where you want to shoot or at what level. Reading your post, however, I'm afraid you might be changing for the wrong reasons. It is true that the Semi-pro class is smaller than MBO, but their scores are sometimes kept in-line by shooting on tougher "PRO" ranges. Make no mistake about it, those boys can shoot.

As for choosing a class to shoot in because of what shirt you put on in the morning, again I don't believe that should be the decideing factor. I know several people who fit the intended profile for the hunter classes who would also make very good staff shooters. They conduct themselves well, and always have a positive approach to the sport, the organization, and the manufacturing sponsors.

When should you move up? In my opinion, it has nothing to do with wether or not you have won any money in any other class. It also has nothing to do with sponsors or experience. If you are new to the sport, and are not sure if you can fit in with the experienced competitors, you should start in the Hunter classes to get your feet wet, so to speak. If your going along in that class and you see, or shoot with people from other classes and think to yourself, "that extra 10 - 15 yards isn't that big of a deal i can do that", you should. If you are shooting "up" on every course you come to, maybe its time. When you can look at the next advanced level of competition and say, I may not be there yet, but thats where I want to be..... go ahead and challenge yourself. Shoot with the best shooters you can, accept that frequently they will win the match, and sooner or later it will be your turn.

If you do choose to shoot semi-pro / pro in one organization then you need to do so in all organizations. As I said, it is none of my business which class you choose, just do it for the right reasons. I have seen shooters jump too high too fast in hopes of gaining the glory and spotlight. They ended up being overwhelmed and virtually dropping clear out of archery because of it. If you do in fact move up, good luck, it is a great buch of guys to compete with. If not, and you choose to stay in MBO ( or any other class ) they are good people too. Either way keep promoting the sport and helping to ensure its continued existance.

AR,
I know where you are coming from, because I shoot with you all the time. Those that are the hecklers are just jealous. I have several pro staff names on my shirts too, and I've been shooting for 15 years at ASA and just started IBO last year. I'm good at promotion for these sponsors products and not vey good at hitting the 12 ring, but I'm not going to change classes just because some other guy said "look at all those names on his shirt". You need to shoot where you feel most comfortable and if you win then move up. My advice is free, but watch out for my poker hand.

AR you are good enough to shoot any class! But dont let anybody tell you that you must move up because you are wearing alot of sponsor patches.
You could move to Open B in the ASA and shoot MBO in the IBO and win a few or top 10 then move up next year to Semi or go for it and go PRO!!
I have paid my dues in MBR & MBO and several shooters tell me that I sand bag so I am going Open Pro this year and will see how bad I really did sand bag... I took the bait an hope I didn't make the move for the wrong reason.
I won the IBO Indoor World last year in MBO and won Bedford and also tied for SOY but with a few less 11's which meen I shot less 8's,
Steve Bear ask me can a women be SEMI-PREGNANT?

well its not that what a person or persons say, but I do care about what others think of me.If they think I am sandbagging then that really disturbs me.I have shot where I think I can do best in.I shoot for my best every time i get up on the stake.I left ASA to try IBO 2 years ago,and went back to asa this year and already I heard that i shouldve been in open B class. Then I heard If i shot semi pro in IBO then why did I shoot open c in asa.why dont peopel worry about where they shoot instead of where others shoot.Focus on there stake and where they are.I am shootign semi pro because I think I can place better there then if I shoot mbo, simple as that.

If you shoot Semi-Pro in the IBO you must shoot Semi-Pro in the ASA.
This is why people call you a sandbagger, shooting in Open C is a novice class and Semi is for a advanced shooter. Which one are you? I am not trying to get smart but you ask.

Hey AR34, I dont think yoy should let anyone else decide what class you shoot. Me personal opinion is I dont care how many names a guy has on his shirt. I have had a few offers to be on someones advisory staff. But they always wanted to require me to got to several shoots and bow clinics and all they wanted to give me was two bows at half retail price. I think I would save money just buying what I shoot the best and going to the shoots I chose to attend. I have found out that you can make phone calls and write all the letters you want. To try to get sponcers, but if you win they will be calling you. I shot the HC for two years and I shot with a lot of ""staff shooter types"". Sometimes they shot better than me sometimes they didnt. All that stuff on their shirts never affected me. After 2 years in HC I moved to MBR. I got smoked in MBR I moved to that class for a reason other than myself. I let someone else influence what class I shot in and I didnt have the confidence I needed to shoot my best. I went back to HC in 2004. I had fun and shot well but didnt win anything on the national level. I shoot up in HC most of the time so I feel it is time for me to go to MBR again in 2005. But I am doing it for me not because someone else thinks I should. You have to make your own decisons based on your skills not on the names on your shirts. Most people are happy for a guy that gets sponcered and it dosent bother them to shoot with them. I dont know you and Iam not saying that you do this but a guy that tells every shooter in the group how many sponcers they have after every shot tends to get on other peoples nerves. My personal opinion is that 1 World Championship or a National Championship belt buckle is worth more than any amount of shirts with names on them.

thanks, you have made mme feel more better, I do however think just by jumping up to semi pro it's the same yards, and I liek the challenge to do my best, and i liek preassure. After aLL I am in this for fun first, I work for my Staff spots by promting products I use and endorse.I was using them before they contacted me or me them , so its not about anyhtign but fun for me at the shoots.I wear there names onmy shirts, to help them out, and let others no I use there products, and it is because I enjoy what I do.I thank everyone for the replies, and in asa I will move up to open A.
