Default Need an extra day for IBO World

I just heard that we shoot Thur., Fri., Sat. and Sun if needed. This means that most everyone has to miss another day of work. That's not good. Did the IBO officals consider that? What would be wrong with shooting Fri., Sat., and Sunday, then if the weather is bad Sunday shoot Monday? There would be less people that would have to miss the extra day. I would be happy to do that if I would make the shoot off. Since I would have to miss an extra day of work no matter how I shoot I'll not be going. How does everyone feel? Ken is it to late to change? Think about what would be better for the working shooters instead of what works better for IBO officals.

It seems to me that this would be a better plan than scheduling 4 days. Why burden everyone with the extra day off from work and the additional nights lodging, when it really might not be needed. If an additional day is needed, then use Monday for that purpose, since it only then would affect the shoot off round anyway. This seems a more workable schedule of events for the man who is not independantly wealthy. More thoughts please

I'll take the employers view point on this one . . . . last minute notice for an additional day off, after you've already been on vacation . . . I don't think so.

Adding Thursday was a good ideal!

That may be true n23d but Snowshoe is giving the 4th day for free anyway so why not use it only if you need it and that way you wouldn't loose a days work? Maybe your one of the independantly wealthy ones I was talking about?

I agree with n23d......If you must miss work, whether on Thursday or Monday.....It's still a days work missed. Better to have planned for it in advance than surprize your employer at the last minute.

As for myself, I'm taking a weeks vacation and my vacation days run from Sunday to Sunday. I'm sure most vacation time works the same way. So Monday would totally be out of the question for most everyone!

I am not sure about everyone else but I think that being able to shoot Thursday, Friday and Saturday and giving us Sunday to make the trip home is a good idea. For some of us it will be quite a long drive home and back at work on Monday, weather permitting. Just a little food for thought.....

I don't like the idea of an extra day myself. It does make it hard on the average person to afford another day. I hope we are looking to move to a new site to hold the worlds. I think we need to get out of the mountans. We should look for a place with closer hotels and motels so it would be better on everyones wallet. Lets look around Ky. or Tenn. That's not to much farther and it's may bring more shooters from the mid-west. Well thats what I think about it so I'll look forword to some comments about my idea to more west alittle.
See everyone in the woods.

I think we all should try it out first and see how it goes before makeing oppinions about it .If the same thing happens atleast you'll be able to finish your last 20 targets .First people cry about there 20 targets now you want to cry over the IBO's trying to make it better .Give em a break.
I'm an average working class .
I would like to have shot my last 20 targets ,and know i can .But if we can't get all done with this extra day i'll be pretty upset.
Lets hope for clear sky's ,and for the best.

I think the current format is a good way of dealing with the weather possibilities. How many employers are going to be happy, and understanding when the calls start coming in Monday morning. What if you have to shoot before you can call work? My cell phone didn't work at Snowshoe. Let's see how things go in 04, then take a look at things.
