Why burden everyone with the extra day off from work and the additional nights lodging, when it really might not be needed. If an additional day is needed, then use Monday for that purpose.
I agree with n23d......If you must miss work, whether on Thursday or Monday.....It's still a days work missed. Better to have planned for it in advance than surprize your employer at the last minute.
As for myself, I'm taking a weeks vacation and my vacation days run from Sunday to Sunday. I'm sure most vacation time works the same way. So Monday would totally be out of the question for most everyone!
