UMBRELLAS?????

My question is "WHY"? I have yet to shoot a IBO Turny. But, after talking to some of my buddy's that have, I don't understand nor do I agree with this rule of useing a umbrella to shield a shooter from wind or rain.... reguardless if your a Pro or the average Joe. Do you have someone standing over you when your in a treestand? If the weather is a problem mybe they should shoot indoors.

There is alot of money at stake in the Pro's so it might be of an importance there but in the Hunter Class's and such you rarely see any umbrellas.

money or not I see NO reason for an umbrella. IBO is for the bow hunter and I dont see a need for them in any class

Umbrellas are one of the things that no one thought of until they were there. They have been limited to one at the stake.
It is a question now, of should we eliminate them and really perturb those that depend on them?
We will see this year how they effect the competition and flow. We will see the input about them at the shoots.
The board will go from there.

Well, I'll speak for myself, but I know I'm not alone.....I DO in fact use an umbrella in my tree when I'm hunting....why the heck not? Cold and wet is sure no fun.

PaDavy, The umbrella usage problem that is being discussed here is the use of an umbrella to block the wind that will effect the shot. Thus eliminating the wind as a factor that could effect the shooters form. Not for the use of stoping rain from falling on your head. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Guy's, Thank you for your replies. I don't want to fire anyone up over this. I just don't agree with the rule, and if ever given the chance to... would definitely vote against it. Sorry if I POed anyone.

I don't want to &quot;fire anyone up&quot;, but there is a difference between the pins classes and the scope classes when shooting IBO. Put a scope on your bow and tell anyone around that you wouldn't like some shade when the sun is glaring off of it and your peep sight. In my experience shooting MBO, this is the biggest use of umbrellas in shooting. Don't get me wrong, we do use them for the wind, but maybe a tenth of the time as with the sun. If we take away the umbrellas, the shooters will go back to using their baseball caps to shade the sun.

Also remember, when someone is holding an umbrella, it is assisting a competitor that they might have just met at the biggining of the course. Whether we shoot good or bad, we are supposed to be enjoying ourselves.

Hope this rambling helps......
