I remember when only the top 10 scores qualified to go to the worlds. Now to many qualifying shoots and to many shooters. To much money @ stake. It use to mean something when you qualified for the worlds. Now anyone can qualify! If you limit the shooters you can limit the size of the place that you hold the worlds. At that point when you go to the worlds it would mean something and maybe the IBO can handle the smaller number of shooters.

Really! One of the best suggestions I' ve heard in a while! There was a local qualifier in my area last year and everyone who shot qualified, period. No matter what class because only 40 some shooters showed up for the whole event. Good point tarkus.

I agree, we thought is was really something to qualify for the World shoot. That was until we realized that anyone with $20 for the entry fee to pay could be eligible. My suggestion would be to have a minumum score at the local qualifying shoots. Instead of just saying anyone that finishes in the top 10 or 20. There have been local qualifying shoots with only 5 people shooting. So essentially that means that even if a person shot a 105 they are world championship qualifiers?????????? I think that a person should earn the right to compete. There should be a certain score based on class that determines if you are world championship material. I also believe that instead of just selecting the top 5 from each course at Snow shoe this past weekend, they should have taken anyone that shot a score Friday that had a chance of winning and allowed them to shoot. Even with a couple hour delay they would have been able to get a smaller number of shooters through the courses on Saturday after the weather cleared.

i agree that the local qualifiers are easy to get in. if you want your sense of accomplishment, go to any of the southern or national triple crown events and shoot in the top 20, if you shoot in a large class......
i feel the ibo has taken great strides in allowing the top 20 instead of the top 10. how many actually attend a world shoot they have qualified for? i know the qualifier we had there were 150 shooters in attendance. of that 150 there were a total of 10 from the shoot who went to snowshoe.
making a score limitation on qualifiers is not fair. i can set a tough range and another club a short range and control peoples chances of getting in. if you want to tackle the mountain and are a 105 type open shooter, have at it. it only helps OUR sport to grow....
the perception of ken getting rich is just not true, who did you make your checks out to for the world shoot, i know kens name or the ibo was not on the check.......the host clubs are getting fat.

I agree with this topic. World qualifying used to mean something. Now it just means that you shot somewhere. If you shot well enough to get your equipment checked friday, then you should have been able to shoot on sunday. I belive that more shoot times are needed. Lot' s of people were there on thursday with nothing to do but shoot the bowhunter defence. Snowshoe didn' t have hardly anything open. We as IBO members spend a lot of money at Snowshoe, and several times during the weekend I heard the Snowshoe director talk about how much it cost to keep the lift running and he wanted to shut it down early every day. If it cost Snowshoe to much to have this shoot and they don' t make enough money off of us, then don' t let them bid next time. Lets get a plan for weather problems and delays done right away. That way we as shooters can decied if we want to risk or money and vacation time on a shoot that will be decieded on weather and the IBO' s deceision on how many shooters they can run through without more work for the officials.

I disagree with the limiting it further, sure there are many qualifiers where you qualify by showing up, there are also many that you need to shoot good. I also think that many many many people who qualify don' t go or could care less.
I think we have just been burned by the luck of the draw this year. The first two years at Snowshoe were fine, all shooting was fit in. The next two years, who knows what will happen.
We got there Wednesday afternoon, it was a very nice day we spent time by the pool, ate out at one of the restaraunts for both lunch and dinner (different places) and did some shopping, I also shot the defense course. Plenty of things where open Wednesday.
I don' t really have a complaint about the weather, its the chance you take on an outdoor event, the only complaint I would have is that Thursday I went to shoot the defense course with my son around 4:45, schedule said it was open til 6. It was closed.
