RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I don' t like the 11 ring, just don' t think that it adds anything to the game. As far as tie breakers go counting X' s would be just as efficient. I hope that this is a one year trail and then it is back to counting X' s next year or at least move it so you have to take a chance trying to aim for it.

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
Stretch the yardages out there and the 11 ring will not be as much of a factor. Scores will get more inline. This short stuff is ridiculous!
I hope Nelsonville proves to be longggggggggggggggggg! |
RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I know one thing for sure. No matter if there' s an 11 ring or not, there' s absolutely no way that everyone will like the way it' s set up. Period...
Shoot for the middle and may the best shooter win!:D |

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I think the 11 ring is awesome. It rewards the shooters who make the best shots. This is not hunting, it is a sport were points are used to decide a winner. So making it possible to pick up points that you might have dropped for numerous reasons (yardage, hitting another arrow, bad shot, held in the wrong spot) does nothing but encourage shooters thru out the round. Awarding more points for hitting the smallest scoring ring is the same as awarding points for hitting the ten ring instead of the eight ring.

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
Well in most cases this year I have been shooting more 10' s than any year before, but I am not hitting as many X' s or 11' s so I am not gaining any ground on the guys who scatter a few more eights, but are hitting more 11' s. I am more consistent on the 4 inch circle than others but on the flip side they are more consistent on hittting the 11. Who is really the better shot? I have been see a come back in the fat shaft area in help cutting a few more lines like in the ASA regions. For myself I feel alot more accoplishment in a clean 100 on my score card made of all 10' s than 2 eights and 4 elevens.

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I have mixed emotions on the 11 ring. In some ways I like it. If I drop some points, I feel I can make it up. But the the very best aren' t dropping many points, so I' m further behind than I was last year. I do have a problem with adding a point to a score and then also using it as a tie breaker. That' s double dipping to me. If two people had the same score and the one shooter got there with 11' s, he actually shot worse on other targets. Why should he or she be doubly rewarded with using that as a tie breaker? Was that guy the better shooter if he shot a 5 and made it up with 11' s? The other one was more consistent.

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I agree with the two posters above who said the 11' s are good, but shouldn' t be tie-breakers as well as scoring the extra point. A 400 score made with 40 10' s should count just as much as one with a bunch of 8' s and twice that many 11' s, IMO.

RE: 11 ring scoring Pro/Con
I love the eleven ring. The guy that shot the perfect 400 didn' t shoot a perfect score. A perfect score is a 440. The better shooters are now winning due to the eleven. I personally do not shoot any better than before because of the eleven but I like to think that if I would catch fire shooting once that the x-ring meant a little more than just a tie breaker and would reward me with more points instead.
