Hi, I am new to the I.B.O., and was wondering if there is any known yardage classes? If not, will there be in the future? Also, I plan on shooting the southern triple crown next year, is it a shootgun start?
Thanks

I need a computer guy. My laptop is suffering from something. I see what I typed on the laptop in a saved response. But it sure does not look like what I just read here.
Sorry for the un-readeable response.
We are at the world. Fun place Great ranges.
Hope all do not miss anything.

Pretty sure there are no "known yardage" classes in IBO, however ASA has opened up a couple of new classes and I think one of them is what you are looking for. In my opinion the whole point to 3D competition is judging distance, any spot shooter can come out to a 3D shoot and rack up high scores when the yardage is known but throw that same guy in the mix of unknown's and he is all over the place like the rest of us!
If you are looking to know your yardage than you may possibly look into Field or FITA competitions.

A really large component of 3-D archery (in IBO) has always been, and still is, the ability of an archer to estimate the distance to the target.
Providing the distance of a target makes it a different game entirely.
Having said that, without any doubt we will discuss again the possibility of adding a place to shoot utilizing a rangefinder at IBO events.

No, I shoot in the unlimited class in asa, I dont want the known yardage stuff. Thats one reason I want to leave asa, to much of it over there.Even at the state shoot we had to dhoot 15 targets that were known distance in unlimited.I hated it.
