You won't have to. Each class except for the ones mentioned by BowPro will be competing for the shooter of the year in their corresponding class. The money that is added on to their entry fee for their class will only be won by the shooter of the year in that class. So instead of one overall shooter of the year their will be twenty or so shooters of the year. You will not have to compete against any Pros or open class shooters.

Of their entry fees:
Amateurs $2.00 goes to the pot for shooter of the year
Semi-Pro $10.00
Pro $20.00
I think those are the numbers for each class.

I stand corrected, I believe that the intent is to establish a SOY for each class. I apologize for the misguided comments and look forward to the upcoming season. Thumbs up to IBO and the expanded program.

Well I am glad that is cleared up.Sorry for the confusion.
Do make note: you are required to shoot four national level events to qualify. You can shoot all seven if you want ,with the top 4 scores applying as your soy scores.
The Winternationals,Southern Triple Crown and the National Championship Triple Crown.
Good Luck and Shoot Well.

What would be wrong with including Indoor Worlds at Cleveland in the mix with the rest of the shoots? Some of us here in the northeast are just lucky enough to get to the Triple Crown and Worlds, that would give us one score we could throw out instead of having to count the only four that we can get to.

Why is there not a shooter of the year for each class?

The SOY program was put together as a motivation/enticement/reward for the shooters that travel. The classes included are what we consider as at a certain competitive level. The hunter classes are going to be put on a more casual level. Once again, this is to limit the intensity of these classes for competition. If you want to compete at this level you will have to step up to MBR,MBO,MSR,FBO,FBR,etc.
The Indoor World is not included because of the limited capacity for participation. It can only handle 800 and change. Thats it. Cannot get any more through in the time that we have for the competition.
The World Championship is not included because of time constraints.
We thought of going to five events for the title, but decided that to be as fair as possible and adhere to the program focus we needed to keep it at four events.

These people in the hunter classes that want a shooter of the year are absolutely hilarious. Do you seriously want a shooter of the year. Half of these "pro hunter classers" should be up in another class anyhow. What defines the HUNTER CLASS? I beleive the intent of the hunter class is to provide a class where people who are seriously just hunters can participate in these shoots and help our sport grow. The only reason there is any rules anyhow is because if you didn't have rules of sight/inserts/fletching/etc restrictions, then you would have some yahoo shooter that should be in a semi-pro class go out there with an MBO set-up just to say he won the HUNTER CLASS. And would be prouder than could be to say that he was a world champ in this class to the people back home. People if you want a SOY in a class then step up to a higher class and leave the Hunter Class to those who just want to hone thier skills for the upcoming deer season to bag that buck of a lifetime.

Vortec you are completely off of the mark. The hunter class is no different then any of the others. We compete in this class because we chose to. We should be entitled to the same awards as all the other classes. One class is no better than the other. We should be working for the betterment of our sport not trying to bash one another. Just my opinion

HC was created to lure in the folks who want to have fun and get started in 3D, it is NOT suppose to be as much of a competitive division, that is why you don't win money the same as in other classes.

I agree with Vortec in spirit of what he is saying, HC and its variants, is for getting started in 3D, or for folks who are out for pure fun and not worry about the competitive aspect as much. That is what it is defined for. Leave the SOY out of it, it has a lower entry fee, different paybacks etc. Folks that want all the competitive bells and whistles, have several choices to pick from outside of HC.

I also agree with that, Bob. It is intended as a little less stressful level of competition. That is the reason that the prize money was capped.
