I'm seriously considering shooting some 3D shoots in the near future, but I'm not really sure how to start. I'm just looking at shooting for fun, not for hardcore competition. Do I just show up at the shoot and the organizers handle the rest for me? I assume there are different class levels based on your shoot experience? Would my current bow, Alpine Sidewinder, be ok to shoot with? Its got a three pin sight, I assume for me that should work and I won't need a scope or movable pin sight? Thanks for any help.

Default RE: 3D Newbie

ID, I started shooting 3D late this summer, and have a ball with my 6 yr old son. I shoot with a moveable pin sight, hunting bow for fun from the 35 yd stakes. I just tell them before I start I'm shooting for no score. I see no reason for myself to shoot farther back, as 35 yds is 10 past my personal limit in the woods. I go for the practice judging yardage, and getting my son some fun shooting "animal targets". Everyone I've met has been friendly and helpful. I'm sure you'll find the same to be true, and have some fun, also.

Phil.
