Is there a place to camp on the mountian at the World?

Yes, there is camping at Snowshoe. You should call first to make sure they have available space. I'm not sure what the cost is.

Go and see Harry P Gum. We stayed there the first year they had the worlds in Snowshoe. It is a nice place. You can fish at a Native Trout stream that is down over the hill from the campground. The Cass Scenic Railroad is directly below the campground too. JUST DON"T ASK FOR THE SPECIAL GREEN WOOD HE GAVE US!!!! It took a night and a day to dry that stuff out.

[align=left]Whittaker Campground is far back in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. Located in Pocahontas County we are considered one of the biggest campgrounds in the county. We have over 100 sites with the majority of them having full hook up.[/align][align=left]
[/align][align=left]We are located two miles from the historical Cass Scenic Railroad which at one time was the biggest logging railroad east of the MIssissippi River. It has now converted over into a historical railroad and town. While staying on the campground you can take in all the scenery and even watch the old locomotives as they come around the campground heading toward there destination which is located 9 more miles up the mountain.[/align][align=left]
[/align][align=left]Also we are located only 10 miles from the Snowshoe Ski Resort, which is the one of the largest ski resorts on the east coast and 6 miles from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, which has the biggest telescope in the United States.[/align][align=left]
[/align][align=left]So if your into site seeing or just relaxing in a peaceful setting we are the place to visit.[/align][align=left]
[/align][align=left]Majorityof our sites has electric, water, fireplaces, firewood, and picnic tables. We do not offer any type of recreational activities as far as a pool, playground, or sports. From our campground you have access to hiking, bike riding, or swimming in the greenbrier river which is located 2 miles from us.[/align][align=left]
