Jeff,

Didnt mean to leave out soil content. I agree that it is very important. I also agree that PA has good genetics for the most part.
Quality nutrition and letting them get old enough has been Pa's shortcoming. It appears Bullmoose and gang are doing the job though!

It is impossible to alter the age structure of the buck herd when you only control 300-400 acres. We didn't find sheds in our area prior to AR because most of te buck were harvested before they had a chance to shed . Now ,with AR we have so few 1.5 bucks to be saved by AR we still aren't finding sheds.

Lets see.....
Bullmooses buddy found 6 sheds in a half an hour but DD found none.
Bullmoose and friends passed nice, legal young bucks (and BB's too I'll bet.)

DD admitted months ago that 5 of the 6 that his gang shot were BB's......
DD cant find sheds where he hunts. Yep, it must be Gary Alts fault again.

Yesterday I found 2 more sheds. I was looking for 7 hours. I want to go back at it this afternoon. Now that I finally figured how to post pics I will be posting them shortly.

I just got back from looking for more sheds. I found another one it looks like its a year old though. It got some chew marks but its a real nice shed. The g-2 is 8.5 inches long.
