We've been through this before. Pa's plan has been supported my many others state agencies as well as dozens of well respected biologists. It takes more than a fringe group of disgruntled hunters and an obscure outdoor writer to prove the present plan violates good management principles.
What state would go into a deer slaughter program without knowing how many deer it had in the state? Then bring in the plane and take pictures after the slaughter to see how many deer was left.
Gary Alt didn't have the guts to hang around and face the hunters after the slaughter!!!

lost Horn: they call that QDM and make $ selling seeds, books, etc. off it to the gulible types.
Pretty hard for anyone to dispute what you posted as that is EXACTLY what is going on in Pa
shoot them off then take a count.
THANK GOD we have the USP to try an pull us hunters out of this mess as it seems the PGC just keeps stepping on its own tail with mistake after mistake
God Bless USP and Slinsky

Then...
well let us see about THAT majority...the number of hunters the PGC polled in regards to satisfaction and antler restrictions was....a grand total of 750 by their own press release! Now that's 750 out of 1 miliion plus back tag buyers, and even then the PGC did not disclose what % of that 750 were in reality connected to the PGC themselves!......hmmmmmmmm makes a true sportsman kinda think there just possibly is a skewed "poll" out there doesn't it???????
Now...
we had 179 shooters and 173 of them checked the box NO!
now this was no offical authorized poll from some hot shot polling company, rather a simple question for simple deer hunters. That live in or visit this area.173/179 is a prteey significant # that aren't happy.
Heck, 750 hunters were not enough to be polled in a previous post. Now 173/179 is "prteey significant". Which is it??

Come on T, we may not like it, but, 173 out of 179 is impressive.........

173 of his 179 screen names all agree!

To answer your question to me ulysses,

Please go back and read my post again.A high majority of people I know are not satisfied with deer management but basically satisfied with the overall job rating of the PGC.
In my opinion the present deer management system needs changes. But on the other hand I'll give credit where credit is due and admit that the PGC has done a good job in other areas.

I gave them a "c " there too, mainly because they have 10 counties without WCO fulltime. pretty hard to give them credit for doing WCO work where they don't have a WCO.

The above is interesting...

ulysses... QDM and what the PGC is doing is different. I will say some of the stuff is similar. PGC encourages shooting mature doe and no BUTTON BUCK! Most QDM properties if you shoot a BUTTON BUCK you are looking at around a $500.00 fine. PGC no fine. If you want to understand QDM you better check this website out. www.qdma.com I think you should because its seems to me you might not understand the differences between PGC and QDM. The first difference is the 3 letters.

Bullmoose I fully understand QDM and I fully understand that the PGC has used QDM as an attractant to wannabe trophy hunters as a means to near deer elimination on public hunting lands.
I've been a farmer most likely for more years than you are alive, I belong to the Pa Fed. of Farmers just as long, (that's the group that is on record as not wanting high deer numbers) I raise the food you eat as well as the food the deer eat...one would think I'd be happy with the PGC's cuurent manage by elimination efforts....WRONG, an exactly why my neighbors and I have now denied access to nearly 4300 acres in 2 WMUs.

4300 acres and counting, thats alot of land hunters are displaced from as a direct result of current deer management practices by the PGC....doughboy would you like me to give some of them your name and where you hunt so they can join you there?...I'm all for helping the sportsman where I can.
