RE: the truth about Casey Burns

The hunter in question fired into an orchard ,and the house and car were not visible from where the hunter was located, He ws firing up hill from a valley into the orchard.

Exactly!!! he fired up a hill without a suitable backstop!

Once again to all of you defending this moron, none of you answered before. Would you be willing to print this thread and show it to a prospective landowner or the landowners who let you hunt there property??? I DONT THINK SO!!!!!

Unless you use more than one name like some here do.....

It's good to know that we have so many saintly hunters in the woods these days that would never make an error. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I definately feel safer now that I have read this thread. Just being here is an honor. Now I can say that I have fratenized with the dear hunting Gods and other perfect people.

How in the world can you make that statement? Unless yo know for a fact that the deer was on the skyline, you have no way of knowing if there was a suitable backstop or not.. If the hunter was in a valley where the ridge line was 1000 yds away, a bullet fired at a deer 100 yds . from the hunter would never clear the ridge line. Therefore , the hunter would belive their was a suitable backstop.

Now if you are siitting in you tree stand with your bow, you are not faced with those difficult high tech. considerations such as, trajectory of a bullet over long distances. So maybe, just maybe , you are not qualified to condemn this rifle hunter who was involved in a hunting accident that was not considered to be gross negligence by the CO. DA.

Wrong again DD! There was not a suitable backstop. Unless you consider a persons head a suitable backstop cause thats where the bullet hit.

Is a stand of trees a suitable backstop?

The point is, what was your back stop? did you make sure there was a big tree directly behind the deer you were shooting at?

I dont care who you are, if youve shot a deer on level ground, you shot at something without a back stop period end of story.

yep! all these pure of heart posters whom seem to "know" all the facts would like to hang this poor SOB.
Seems to me that a few of the posters here without any investigation on their part are more knowledgeble than the PGC and the State Police whom didn't find evidence of intent.
Just possibly we could get some of these supreme beings to show us what they are baseing their claims on.
WOULD I print this thread an give it to a landowner...yes just to show them whom NOT to let on their property ...cause if someone is stupid enough to call for this guys thumbs for an accident they'd surely be willing to sue a landowner if they fell out of treestand on his property. Heck it should be the landowner's responsibility to see that there are no rotten trees on his land....shouldn't it??????????
Accident yes, intent no!!!!!!!!
what you have is someone whom wants to profit from an accident plain 'n simple!!!!!!
