There are plenty of deer in Augustine Beach area and Cedar swamp but again they are state areas and you have to get in line for a stand.. We till the ground in Cedar Swamp abd I just planted some Rut and Strut this Spring, plenty of deer without it. Any plave along the coastline has plenty of deer, so much good food and cover.

This year, the tract with the most deer will be the one with the most water. Things are a tad dry. Plenty of ground in Sussex County with tax ditches....I'd start there. Cedar swamp is good but tough to hunt with all the demand for stands. Time to get out and scout! The beans are stunted and deer can be easily seen in the evenings!!

RonM, I know exactly where you are talking about. That woods is in a nice area. I'll be down that way again tomorrow before sun up scouting around. Maybe i'll swing by. My dad and I are sub leasing a goose pit about 2 miles tops from your deer woods. Its a neat area to hunt.

I sub lease a small farm not far down from woodland beach on Rt 6 for deer and I hunt woodland WMA area alot during the bow season. I got first deer with a bow at woodland last year on Sept 8. It was a spike. I was hunting on the ground. Damn thing nearly walked into me. Drawing the bow was almost in self defense <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>. At woodland beach the stands are first come first served for archery season but you dont have to hunt from them. I prefer to be on the ground. I hunker down in whatever natural cover there is and keep still. You cant see as much, but its pretty effective.

The seasons 2 1/2 weeks away!! Cant get here quick enough.

Duckmastor 2 who do you lease blinds from on Rt6.. Check out that woods across fromAllee house . Going Southjklit will be on your right past the allee driveway, down a ways you will see some metal posts blocking off an entrance, Walk in there and check around for sign if anyone comes out in a White Chev P/U or Surbanan tell them Ron Mears sent me in here to check out the ldeer stand he built. Write my name down because they do ride around and check on stuff. It would be one of the Wilson's, the owners. The stand is on the South edge of property where it joins Bombay Hook on that side of the road.....

lemond turn left by the power station and they have parking areas and routes to the stands. We farm all the grpund around there except for Collins Beach. We dont have hunting rights on it because it is state ground and open to the public for hunting.

Drove by your set up today RonM. Its where I thought it was. Thats a nice location. I see why you all do so well. I didnt go into the woods though. It was getting really hot and I already had deer wind me where i was scouting this morning. Didnt want to screw anything up. Do you just hunt gun or do you do bow too?

I was wrong about the farm we hunt geese in being 2 miles away. Its only about 1/2 mile :).
