Well Sunday I moved my stand location, about 125yds away. Hunted the new location Tuesday allday. At 7:30am I had 4 does come in but I didn't have a shot, at 12:30pm a spike that was in the 140lb. range came in a gave me a 15yrd. shot, I MISSED, don't ask how. Then at 3:30pm a button buck came in, I thought it was a doe I double lunged it at 15yds. This was goin to be my last week to bow hunt, as I'm leaving Saturday to shotgun hunt NY it opens on Monday the 22nd....so I got meat

Also let me add, that the spike wasn't rutting at all, he was eating and walking

not alot going on in zone 18 just seeing alot of does and a few small bucks I am hoping that the 28 day cycle and cooler weather will put the does back in heat during ML and SG season the best day I ever had hunting rutting bucks was in Allaire St. Park about 12 years ago the day after after Thanksgiving I saw 4 bucks chasing does all over 130 class and in 94 (large 9 pointer) and 97 (Large 10 pointer) which I killed chasing does during shotgun week in zone 18.

Bigmills---last year the 1st day of ML was the best ever!! The bucks were in full rut and all 4 of my partners tagged out. Plus, everyone saw at least one other buck during the day. Real fun to be able to use scent with a firearm.

EP: My beef is that successful big buck states like ILL only allow 1 or 2 bucks for ALL SEASONS combined. My midwestern friends think that we are nuts with the hunting from Sep--Feb and with shotguns for most of DEC and JAN. Just a thought.

Broadhead I agree with you and your friends.

I feel that once the 6 day shotgun hunt is over no bucks should be harvested. I also feel that during the permit shotgun season only antlerless deer should be taken, and come January 1st, it should be winter bow hunting, no more shotgun hunting

Bow hunting only during January like it use to be in the past years, so yes no smokepole....but either sex when the permit muzzleloader season is underway. Remember the good days when you would see lots of deer, its not the same anymore

How much time do you bow hunters want in the woods you can start to hunt in mid Sept. and you can go all the way till the end of January give the gun hunters some time also. My personal opinion is that bow hunters get to much time now.
