Default N.J. archery season seems to be a rip off!

woop pee- i get to hunt 24 days in my zone 21 before i get the privilage of paying again to hunt a couple more weeks. its not even a month. i know i choose to hunt this area mostly maybe because its a little tougher hunting and my family has hunted there forever but this extra paying for extended bow season crap is ridiculous. WE JUST KEEP PAYING AND PAYING LIKE SUCKERS![:@] why cant they just save on the paperwork and charge us 50$ to hunt the whole archery season at least. i spent about an hour getting all my licenses filled out at the wal mart. i think the state just keeps craming the fact you can harvest 20 something plus deer a year if you hunt all the seasons so you should be glad to pay. what ever happened to quality hunting over quantity. my freezer can hold a deer or 2 and i can give away a deer or 2. i dont care if i can fill a trailer full of deer. i must be getting old[>:]

I am right with you and to top it of permit bow is about 3 weeks long and then they let you use the gun to kill does only the week of thanksgiving.
The state should go to 3 or 4 points on one side or better.
But thats just my two cents.
Good luck to everybody

I tell my our of state friends about our rules/regs and fees and they actually think that I am pulling their leg! My ILL buddy who has pope and young deer all around him only pays about $40 to hunt both bow and shotgun!

I could give a rat's a$$ about shooting a doe a day or whatever the heck we can do. Quality over quantity is always better in the end.

What you need to do is attend Federation meetings where you can talk directly with members of the Fish and Game Council. Also write letters to the Director of Fish and Wildlife. They seldom spend time on these forums so they won't hear your complaints unless you talk to them.

I agree,In zone 6 I hunt from oct 2-29 then pay more to hunt oct 30-nov 27 and my bow seasons done till jan for winter bow. Then you get zones that bow hunt till dec 24..I love zone 6 for the antler restrictions,I do see a difference now compared to 4 years ago,Just wish they would give us bowhunters more time.

Man you guys have horrible seasons compared to mine. I get to hunt from Oct. 1st to Jan. 31. I know I won't get all my deer. In MS, I can shoot 8 deer with my bow, all for $33! I bought the sportsman's license. 3 bucks, 3 does, ( I only bowhunt, so I get all 8)and an additional 2 does with archery, small game, duck (extra $11 duck stamp), birds, and 3 turkey. What am I doing in this forum though? I must be lost!

NJ does suck as far as prices go!!! I moved out to NJ last year and could no believe all of the damn fees

For $75 bucks in NY as a resident I was able to get;
Big Game
Small Game
Bowhunting
Muzzleloader
Turkey and fishing....plus 2 doe permits

I will be hunting zone 6 for the first time this year. Will you be on public or private land? I am going to try the Rockaway River WMA... and hopefully (if the morris county parks) lottery selects me... Malhone-Dickerson.

Know anything about the Rockaway River WMA? Lots of guys? I will be in there fall bow, permit bow, and 6 day firearm.

your only allowed one doe and one buck in my zone so i cant see what the difference in adding extra days to my zone 21. its all about getting out and hunting. 24 days is a crime! way too short.funny thing is during the 6 day firearm you can take 2 bucks?. what do the fish and game council do to pick the season dates . throw darts at a calander? again i say- to heck with the quantity.

Again I say attend Federation meetings and talk to the people who set the seasons. Complaining here does no good.
