Default Dead Bobcat in N.J.

Just got the paper and read that they found a dead bobcat in Clifton, NJ. They said others have been found killed by cars on rt 80 and that there are some living in the wetlands just west of Clifton. I thought we only had them in sussex co. They are a pretty animal. There is no open season here and it is against the law to kill, attempt to kill or possess, unless legaly taken in other states.

There are wetlands just west of Clifton? Closest I can think of is the Pine Brook to Parsippany area, or up rt. 23 or 208 around Wanaque and Pompton. We have been seeing some game around here that you wouldn't expect though, last year I saw a couple of fox in Hasbrouck Heights.

People are seeing all kinds of animals this winter in soem pretty populated places. There was a deer that ran thru a window in Lyndhurst a couple of months ago.

I live in Northern Bergen and we have tons of deer/foxes/some turkeys/and the occasional bear. And some of these bucks are absolute monsters!!!!

I saw some Bob's in the woods near me a few years back during deer season. I was walking towards a path through the woods when I noticed something was looking at me. So I used my scope and low and behold its a bob cat looking at me, pointy ears and all. Finally it took off and got tired of looking at me. When I entered the path, another friend was walking it towards me. He asked me if I saw the Bob cat and said yeah, and watched it for a while. He said no, I kicked one towards the path he was on and he saw that one. Two in one day. That was very neat seeing Bob cat in the woods.

Oh yeah, I live in PA not NJ, on top of the Poconos.

I'M IN LODI, AND I SAW A COYOTE A FEW YEARS AGO, JUST OFF RT.46 WEST ON RIVER ROAD ELMWOOD PARK, MATTER OF FACT IT WAS ON THE HILLMAN'S GOLF RANGE. ALSO YEARS AGO THERE WERE A FEW DEER LIVING IN LODI BEHIND FELICIAN COLLEGE. MY PARTNER LIVES IN SADDLE BROOK, AND HIS BACK YARD BUTTS UP TO THE COUNTY PARK, AND HE ALSO SEES DEER, TURKEY, AND COYOTE.

My father is an avid trapper and he caught a Bobcat accidentaly a few years back in a set he made for fox, very close to the Rockaway mall. He caught it in a snare and was using a drag.once the bob felt the snare it lept ,the drag got caught and the Bob hung itself. He called the division of fish and game. They came and saw it was an accidental catch. they said he did nothing wrong but wasnt allowed to keep it.The bobcat was mounted and is on display at the Peaquest trout hatchery.
