emlaur, My buddy whom I go up there with every time[he`s been going there since 1969],is the one who mentioned it too me.When we goto BogRiver[the falls into Tupper]we usually take a ride all around the area.When you mention Tiger Musky to the residents,Horseshoe isn`t even mentioned,come to think of it.But then again some of the residents probably dont want too volunteer too much info.It`s at least a 45 minute ride from Saranac,and the way it seems,my friends from there always give me their "good spots",which always seem to be closer than their kitchen.I know some of them are just too lazy to journey into the unknown[which means unnessary work too them].But I`ll see how it goes with the turkey hunting first,then the trout,pike and bass[in that order].Then if I have enough time I will take a ride up there and check it out.I just hope the weather cooperates[5 to 10 mile an hour winds and 50 degrees];)

ENCON's deer kill statistics are out for the 2003 deer season. New Yorks deer kill declined by 18% last season. The Adirondacks did much worse. Of the eastern Adirondack counties Washington county took 49% fewer deer in 2003. The counties buck kill dropped from 2.8 per sq. mile to 2.1 per sq. mile. Warren county down 33%, Saratoga county down 29%, Essex county down 16%, Hamilton county down 26%. This follows smaller declines in recent years. The decline in the buck take per sq. mile was as follows: Saratoga-1.9 to 1.4, Warren-0.8 to 0.7, Washington- 2.8 to 2.1.
I have been hunting the Adirondacks since the mid 1960's and will honestly say that the 2003 season was the worst I have seen.
