I thought about saving a doe tag for late archery, but went out and shot a doe in rifle season. Oh well, I'll have to wait another year before trying it. I give you guys credit going out there at that time of year. I'm usually out as well grouse hunting where I get to walk and stay warm.

I'll probably be out unless it is tooooo cold!
I'm bummed out because I saw so many bucks during early archery (missed 3
). During gun season I saw three non-shooters on the first day and nothing since. I would really like to get my first buck.
I got a doe two days ago finally. At least I have something to put in the freezer. I would like to fill the freezer though as I've really developed a taste for venison!
But really, the best part about it is being out in the fresh air and enjoying nature.

I can't wait for the second season. Last year I had a nice 6 pointer fall to my smoke pole and that was the 12th deer of the day that I saw. I always see a good deal of deer in the second season as they seem to start coming back to normal after the hunting pressure of early December. I have yet to see any signs of the second rut though maybe someone could share their experiences.

I definitely think it is possible to call bucks in during the late season though I think you may need to be more critical in terms of when you call and how often you do it. I am sure the deer are much more skittish than in the early season though that week and a half "break" must do some good in this regard.

Can't wait. Had to miss rifle season. Baby is due any day now literally.
