There is a big bodied buck that I have seen on my property for at least three years now. He was a seven point two years ago but is only a six point this year. When the deer is facing you his rack looks enormous but if you see him from the side he looks like a big fork horn. My guess is that he is old enough now to be on the downhill swing. In other words, there's not much point in passing him up this year. I didn't really try to do that the last two years either but I just so happened to take a different buck each of those years before I ever saw this one. The only times I have seen him in daylight and other than on a trail camera has been during the peak of the rut. Two years ago he was in my driveway one morning trying to corral a hot doe. Last year I saw him one morning on the sidehill below the house chasing several does. The photos in my driveway are from 2023 and the first night video is from my orchard last year (2024) and the last two night videos are from a few nights ago, once in the orchard and once along a path near the house.

Here's another new video of him from last night. I sat in a stand about 30 yards from that camera last evening until dark and didn't see anything but squirrels which was odd because acorns were falling all around me.
I also hunted for a few hours yesterday morning in a different stand beside the orchard and the only thing I saw there was a group of five gobblers.
Today was the complete opposite. I saw seven deer this morning one of which was a small buck harassing a doe with twins. This evening I went out at about 5:30 and saw ten deer. No bucks other than one little button buck.
Lots of red oak acorns this year plus a few chestnut oak (white oak) acorns. Total waste of time right now sitting anywhere other than in the oak groves.
We are supposed to have a cold front move through mid-week so hopefully that will get the older bucks on their feet during daylight hours.
There's also a full moon right now but I'm not sure if that even matters.

Be careful who you say that to. Just kidding.
Haven't seen a legal buck since the season opened although I did see nine does this morning.
The big six is still around. Got this photo last night on my powerline. Also seeing some big rubs near the house.
Shouldn't be long before he and his buddies start moving in the daylight. Fingers crossed.
