Hey all
my wife and I did something cool over the weekend. We drove from our home in Huntingdon, up through clinton county, and then cut over and drove to benezett(e) (sp) and looked for the PA elk :-) We found some in a field near winslow hill< and got a good look and some great pics of a couple big bulls. Then we were headed home, after seeing these and went down through Medix Run and were going down the Quehanna highway, and there was a big bull chasing the cows, bugling for all he was worth. Got some really up close shots with the video camera and digital camera (stayed at a safe distance, zoom is very very nice in these situations). I will post up some pics when I ge tthe chance.
I highly recommend the trip, nice drive, great scenery, and a bunch of good photo ops. The Quehanna highway on the way home was gorgeous, no traffic, and it takes you through some great state forest!!

I usually see them once or twice a year. We do some trout fishing up in that area on opening weekend. I' d love to see them flourish to the point were we don' t need the lottery system to get a license.

While we were hunting in Centre County near State College, I overheard a lady in a restaurant talking about a " elk viewing area" somewhere nearby and how everyone goes up to watch them. I was going to ask where, but they left before I had a chance.
Is this the same area you are speaking of, or does anyone know where it is? I' d sure like to swing by there on Sunday next year during the " no hunting" day off and see them. Thanks for any info. Pinwheel 12
