The tough part is finding the state land. About two years ago I was down at my Buddys place (I live in Carbon County now) and we took a day and went hunting. I think we were on that #56, if it borders Noxamixon State park. It was late in the extended doe season. I did see a deer, but it looked like a spike. It was thick in there. In the afternoon we went to a place he used to hunt as a teenager. I think we were almost on the Jersey border. We were walking in and we passed a guy dragging out a doe he shot with a muzzleloader. Somebody pushed 4 buck past me. When we left there were 3 doe in the parking lot that were taken late in the day. This was on a Saturday all on public land. It is not like the mountains. Deer are always moving somewhere down there. You may go out and see nothing all day and the next day see 15. Sometimes you have to be patient.

Man I hunted that area in Bucks co since the early 70's. That was some great hunting back in the day! Its a shell of what it was. Still some good hunting up that way if you do your homework. I still Duck hunt mostly and some Late season Doe hunting. There is still a nice pocket of Ruff Grouse on #56 Near Ottsville, Turkeys too. Still not a bad place to hunt. Some spots on Perryauger RD and Wildcat rd are good spots. Bolder Road too. Back in the DAY that was a GREAT AREA TO HUNT!!!! Brings back a lot of great times in my early hunting days. Where I cut my teeth hunting!!!!
