I spend on an average of 300 days per year in the field working the land...my property is posted by I do grant permission to hunt if I'm approach properly...... every now an again some guy whom watches way too many hunting shows asks to hunt my land an they'll spend a few weeks at different times of the year scouting...then they make me chuckle when they tell me they have the bucks patterned...yeah right.. I watch as they set their treestands prior to the season and laugh at the seaons end when they have killed a little rag buck an think they've killed the boss buck on my farm....reminds me of some of these posters here whom think they know all about big buck hunting cause they've killed o handful of 130s

There are still plenty of deer out there to be hunted on public lands across the state. This year in centre county I hunted public land in archery season and saw over 120 deer. One night I had over 40 deer in front of me at one time. And this is not because the property doesnt get hit hard. Opening day of rifle season I went out and sat without a gun because I already harvested a 4.5 year old buck on this public ground and I saw 4 legal bucks. After leaving mid morning I drove around to see over 40 vehicles parked so you cant say there isnt a lot of pressure. At home, in eastern pennsylvania, I often hunt state land and always see deer. I have seen a P&Y buck each year and always see a good number of does each outing. It is all about getting out there and finding a good spot.
One of my buddies is a new hunter and he hunted the area in central PA where I saw loads of deer and he didn't see any. same with other hunters hunting that area that I spoke with. the deer are there but they arent just going to walk out in front of every hunter. The public land i hunted in centre county is over populated with deer and a bunch need to be taken but yet i heard several people saying there were no deer there and they were lucky to see one or two. There are plenty of opportunies for guys to go out and harvest deer on public ground in PA and I am all for taking a few does every year and I wish other people would too.

We need to be mobile and have patience.Our group which is basically my sons,me,and a friend or two have been killing bucks pretty much every year on land open to hunting but you gotta have a lot of patience because most times out you don't see a deer and the sightings throughout a season might hit 10 total if you're lucky.And that's alot of hours on stand.
I know quite a few one day hunters and most would be happy seeing a few deer a day but most times that's not the case because they're stuck on public land and can't invest the time or money to scout alot."

Too many stories like this to dismiss. Hunters find the deer. As for outfitters, there are more in PA now than ever and most are utilizing public ground. HMMMMMM!

Thats your UNSUPPORTED opinion, that is unless you can show me the study you conducted comparing the last few decades to current numbers? I disagree. There always were very few. And there still is very few.

Not true. MOST hunting operations in the state are behind high fence.(HMMMMM! lol). Might be because that about the only place that hasnt been raped by pgc "management". Course there are a couple of enterprising individuals operating on public lands, although there is a very fitting saying, "a fool and his money will soon be parted." lol

High fence operations are not outfitters. They are preserves. My post was strictly addressing fair chase outfitters.
