Default How did you WV hunters do?

Well, the deer season has ended in WV. I had a pretty interesting year....got to take one button buck with my bow and got one big doe with my 30-06. I had a couple clean misses with my bow....still have issues with staying calm and keeping my routine. I got to pull my bow back last week on a big eight point (biggest deer I have yet seen in the woods), but he saw me about 1 second before I released and turned towards me, ruining my shot potential. Saw a fare number of other deer. Really enjoyed being in the woods.

So my second hunting season comes to an end, and I am looking forward to the next. More bow practice in the off season.

WV buck kill down 7%... it's time for the DNR to tighten the limits.

Rem...I can't speak for the whole state, but the numbers of deer in our area are through the roof. I don't think that they need to tighten the limits everywhere...they need to manage the state by area. I know that is being done somewhat...but the state is so different from one area to another, and the bag limits are pretty much similar. And if you look at the kill numbers by county...most of the shortcomings are in the northern part of the state. I have a buddy that hunts in Marshall County and he said he was lucky to even see a deer this year, and in the past they were covered up with them.

I think they need to lower the limit on bucks to 1 or maybe 2...and tighten the doe kill in the areas where the kill was down 30-40 and even 50%.

We also do not have any hunters around us. It used to be a happening during gun season...now we are the only people within miles of our farm that are hunting.

In Braxton county, we had a great year. I got a nice massive 8 with the bow. We killed one 10pt, 2 8pt's and I killed a 3pt plus we took 4 does during the gun season.

I got this guy opening day. I saw 1 other buck, a decent 6 and let my buddy shoot it. Other than those two there was just 2 spikes taken. There are plenty of deer, but plenty of cover for them to hide where we couldn't get to.
